Impact of a physician-led sexual health education program on adolescent knowledge and attitudes toward safe sex practices

Summary
The aim of this study is to determine if physician-led education improves student knowledge of and attitudes towards prevention of unintended pregnancy and STIs.
Description
An initial survey will assess student baseline practices, attitudes, and knowledge of sexual health. They will then undergo a nationally recognized sexual health education session, titled Rights, Respect, Responsibility by Advocates for Youth, which is not part of the study procedure. The entire curriculum may be reviewed here: http://advocatesforyouth.org/3rs-curric-lessonplans, however, only a portion of this curriculum will be included in the education sessions. We will assess outcomes immediately and 3 months after the session in order to measure changes in practices, attitudes, and knowledge.
