Summary

The purpose of this study is to conduct a qualitative study on a classroom intervention of having undergraduate lab assistants (ULAs) in courses taught by international graduate student instructors that are called associate instructors (AIs).

Description

We will explore international AIs' and ULAs' experience in working together in an undergraduate course in a mid-western university in the U.S. The purpose of this study is to understand international AIs' and ULAs' experiences on how ULAs' role as mentors and cultural brokers influence international AIs' teaching in a pre-service teacher program.
Research questions are following:
o What do international AIs experience in teaching with ULAs in courses for pre-service teachers in a U.S. mid-western university?
o How do ULAs perceive their teaching assistant roles as mentors and cultural brokers in courses taught by international AIs?
