Summary
Objectives of our study would be to:
1)Characterize and study BALF cytology & immunologic markers in patients with respiratory failure after HSCT with respect to patient characteristics, primary indication, type of HSCT and conditioning regimens used pre-HSCT.
2)To compare how these inflammatory markers in BALF vary in conditions of acute GVHD, idiopathic pneumonia syndrome and peri-engraftment respiratory distress syndrome.
3)To determine the utility of bronchoscopy and BAL fluid analysis in diagnosing and treating different etiologies of respiratory failure after HSCT.
