Summary
This study will test fifty lactating women for a series of toxic chemicals, included above. The purposes of the project are to determine the levels of these chemicals in breast milk, and to raise the level of awareness of these individuals and the general public about the exposure to toxic chemicals during breastfeeding.
Description
Participants will be adult women who chose to breastfeed their newborns, selected to achieve geographic, racial, and economic diversity. The project’s report will place participants’ results in the context of other national and regional body burden studies and surveys, including the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) results as well as information from other independent or university testing.
