This study investigates how learning a second language, specifically Russian, affects brain structure and function. The study uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to observe changes in the brain of participants who are learning Russian. MRI is a technique that uses magnets and radio waves to create images of the inside of the body.
Participants will undergo an MRI scan and complete a survey and tests. They will be compensated $25 for their participation. The study aims to understand the relationship between language learning and brain changes.
- Who can participate: Participants must be adult native English speakers who are right-handed and have normal or corrected vision and hearing. They should also be learners of Russian. Exclusions include having unsafe metal implants, being claustrophobic, weighing over 400 lbs, or being pregnant.
