Investigation of Kinesio Tape on Muscle Soreness

Recruiting

All

This study investigates the effect of Kinesio tape on delayed onset muscle soreness in the biceps muscle after strenuous exercise. Delayed onset muscle soreness is the pain and stiffness in muscles that occur several hours to days after unusual or intense exercise. Kinesio tape is an elastic therapeutic tape used by health practitioners for various clinical conditions.

Participants will undergo strenuous eccentric exercise of the biceps muscle. The study will involve applying Kinesio tape to the arm to assess its impact on muscle soreness. Eccentric exercise refers to movements where the muscle lengthens under tension, such as lowering a weight.

  • Who can participate: Participants must be aged 18 to 30 years old. They should not have engaged in upper extremity strengthening exercises in the past month or regularly in the past 6 months. They should not have any recent injuries or surgeries to the neck or upper extremity. Participants should not have known allergies to the tape or medical adhesive bandages, and should not develop skin irritation from the tape.
  • Study details: Participants will be involved in exercises and have Kinesio tape applied to their arm. The study will assess the tape's effect on muscle soreness. A placebo, an inactive substance that looks like the investigational tape but does not contain any therapeutic material, may be used for comparison.
