This study investigates the effects of alcohol consumption on health processes in people living with HIV. Specifically, it looks at how drinking alcohol affects things like inflammation and the way the body fights infections. Two study arms will be formed: one with participants who have alcoholic hepatitis and another without.
Participants will undergo regular health checks and tests to monitor their HIV levels and liver health. The study will involve collecting blood samples and other health information to understand the impact of alcohol on the body.
- Who can participate: Participants must be 21 years or older and have a documented HIV infection. They should be on stable antiretroviral therapy with controlled HIV levels and meet criteria for heavy alcohol consumption.
