Exploring roles of reflex systems in gait stability and recovery from perturbation

Study on Muscular and Neural Activity During Treadmill Walking

Recruiting
18 years and older
All
Phase N/A

The purpose of this study is to investigate how muscles in the leg and right lower leg work when a person encounters a disturbance while walking on a treadmill. This study will also explore how the nervous system, particularly at the spinal level, helps people recover their balance during walking.

Participants will be asked to walk on a treadmill while their leg muscles and nerve activity are monitored. This will help researchers understand how the body responds to unexpected changes during walking.

  • Who can participate: Individuals who can walk independently at a speed of at least 2 mph are eligible. Participants should not have a history of neurological disorders, chronic diseases, or movement disorders.
  • Study details: Participants will walk on a treadmill while researchers monitor their muscle and nerve activity. This is to study how the body responds to disturbances during walking.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?
