This study investigates the effects of drinking beetroot juice on muscle function in older adults. The purpose of the study is to understand whether beetroot juice can benefit individuals aged 65 to 79. Participants will be required to drink beetroot juice and their muscle function will be tested. Muscle function refers to how well muscles can perform tasks and is measured through physical tests.
Participants will undergo a series of tests including blood and muscle sampling. A muscle sample will be taken by numbing the thigh and making a small cut to insert a needle for tissue collection. This procedure is designed to be painless. Participants will also wear an activity monitor to track their physical activity levels during the study.
- Who can participate: Men and women aged 65 to 79 who are in good health can participate. Key eligibility factors include not being pregnant, not smoking, and not having significant medical conditions like cardiovascular or metabolic diseases.
