Summary
The purpose of this study is an exploratory analysis to determine if foot strike synchronization with the cardiac cycle a) results in a decrease in heart rate in elite and sub-elite distance runners, and b) a corresponding decrease in oxygen uptake (i.e. an improvement in running economy) or perceived exertion.
