Summary
The specific aims of the study are:
1. To identify predictors of 30-day readmission, length of stay, costs, and mortality
2. To identify factors associated with the use of blood products and renal replacement therapy
3. To determine the root cause and preventability of 30-day unplanned readmissions
4. To validate the CAM-ICU as a measure of overt HE in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis
5. To evaluate the association between the presence and duration of delirium (assessed by the CAM-ICU) with in-hospital complications of infections, intubation, sepsis, hepatorenal syndrome, and mortality in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis
6. To evaluate the association between the presence and duration of delirium (assessed by the CAM-ICU) with 90-day hospital readmissions in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis
