Human Milk Study
-
- STATUS
- Not Recruiting
Summary
The purpose of this study is to determine if infants who are given breastmilk in the neonatal intensive care unit are less likely to acquire hospital acquired infections (HAIs) and multidrug resistant organisms. Dose response of breastmilk over the course of the infant?s stay will be assessed as well as other risk factors for each infant. Infants will be followed for the duration of their hospital stay for HAI infections and organism acquisition. It is hypothesized that infants who receive higher dose responses of breastmilk will have reduced acquisition of HAIs as compared to formula fed infants.
