Summary
The purpose of this study is to look at the different molecules, specifically RNA, found in baby's blood. We hope to find a specific molecule miRNA145 in baby's who have be diagnosed with Hypoxic-Ischemia Encephalopathy (HIE) and not find it in healthy babies. With this study we hope to better understand why HIE happens and if we can develop a new treatment for this condition.
Description
The purpose of this study is to study the cellular mechanisms that are involved in the IGF-I pathway specifically looking at miRNA145 or other microRNAs. If these cellular mechanisms can be identified and studied perhaps an effective therapeutic strategy can be developed to improve the outcomes of infants with HIE.
