Study on Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Children

This study investigates nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in children. NAFLD is a condition where fat builds up in the liver without alcohol use. The purpose of this study is to follow and evaluate children with NAFLD to better understand the disease.

Participants will undergo yearly evaluations. This includes medical assessments and collection of biosamples such as blood and possibly liver tissue. The study aims to observe changes over time to gather more information about NAFLD.

  • Who can participate: Children aged 2 to 17 years with minimal or no history of alcohol use, who have had a liver biopsy within 120 days of joining, can participate for up to 4 years. Previous participants of related studies are also eligible.
  • Study details: Participants will be evaluated yearly and provide biosamples like blood and possibly liver tissue. Informed consent is required, and participants will be compensated.
  • Study Timelines: The study will last up to 4 years.
