Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth: A Prospective Registry
-
- STATUS
- Not Recruiting
Summary
We would like to investigate the prevalence of SIBO in all patients who will be undergoing an enteroscopy (a longer scope with camera that examines the small intestines) as an outpatient procedure with symptoms of functional dyspepsia. In addition, we would like to identify the types of bacteria that are present in the small intestines in patients with SIBO and compare two different diagnostic tools: microbiologic culture and DNA sequencing of bacteria. The next aim is to compare the intestinal microbiota of patients with functional dyspepsia and in control subjects.
