Summary

The purpose of this study is to test a therapeutic genital herpes vaccine named VCL-HB01 for its safety and effectiveness against HSV-2. The study will determine what effect the vaccine has on people and their natural defense system to reduce, if not prevent, genital herpes outbreaks (also called genital herpes recurrences).

Description

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of 4 doses of VCL-HB01, a therapeutic HSV plasmid DNA vaccine, in HSV-2-seropositgive adults with a reported history of 4 to 9 recurrences in the prior year in the absence of suppressive antiviral therapy or in the year prior to starting suppressive antiviral therapy.
