Summary

The purpose of this study is to determine if Chinese international students do, in fact, face penalties in their schoolwork due to perceived language non-competency, and if so, isolate the causes by comparing the graded performances of a public speaking exercise of a white domestic student, a white international student whose native language is not English, a Chinese American domestic student, and a Chinese international student whose native language is not English.
