Summary
The purpose of this study is to collect interviews, oral histories, and to analyze material cultural in public spaces on daily life in Druze villages throughout Israel and the Golan Heights in order to answer the following research questions: (1) In what ways to ethno-religious minorities seek recognition and perform belonging within ethno-national states? (2) How is tourism a productive site to express counter-hegemonic narratives against the state, or at least disaffection towards the state? (3) In what ways do they demonstrate they are or are not Israeli/Palestinian/Syrian (in the case of Druze in the Golan Heights)?
