Mobile Mental Health Monitoring and Support for Adolescents with HIV in Kenya

Summary

The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and usability of a cell phone-based intervention to provide mental health services for HIV-infected adolescents in Kenya; evaluate the user engagement with both the cell phone-based intervention and the clinical care system throughout the monitoring period using counselor reports, usage tracking, and clinical database evaluation; and describe key clinical, mental, and emotional health outcomes for this cohort during the monitoring period, including medication and clinic adherence, viral suppression, depression symptoms and other behavioral or emotional symptom reports, and engagement with support services such as peer support groups.
