Asthma Medication Changes Due to Insurance Coverage and Subsequent Hospitalization Rates

  • STATUS
    Not Recruiting
Updated on 19 February 2024

Summary

Insurance Companies frequently change the preferred inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) that is covered for treatment of asthma. Care often gets interrupted as physicians work to get the new preferred inhaler prescribed or attempt to get preferred authorizations approved. We will perform a chart review of 2016 and 2017 to determine if patients from our high risk asthma clinic had higher rates of hospitalization in the month following a change in preferred ICS.
