Updated on 19 February 2024

Summary

We propose to leverage the infrastructure of the ongoing ABC PICU study (#1403517431), a multi-center clinical trial testing the effect of age of stored blood on the development of new or progressive MODS (NPMODS), to enroll critically ill children undergoing RBC transfusions and to collect biological samples to characterize molecular biomarkers and circulating microbiome, and examine their relationship to MODS and mortality.
