Summary
The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of opening an inpatient child psychiatric unit on an urban tertiary care pediatric emergency department. We aim to compare the overall volume of patients with primary psychiatric billing/diagnosis codes before and after opening an inpatient psychiatric unit, in addition to the relative use of psychiatric medications/restraints utilized and duration of ED stay.
