Summary
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether daily treatment with heat therapy for 8 weeks improves the circulation to your leg and enhances the distance you can walk before you feel pain in your legs.
Description
We propose to evaluate the potential of leg heat therapy (HT) as a non-pharmacological intervention that could improve the mobility and exercise tolerance in of patients with symptomatic PAD. We propose to conduct a randomized, controlled trial to evaluate the benefits of 8 weeks in a home-based daily treatment with HT or a thermoneutral control intervention as assessed by vascular function, walking tolerance and quality of life.
