Multifactorial severity score for in utero detection of the morbidly adherent placenta (MAP)
-
- STATUS
- Not Recruiting
Summary
Failure to accurately detect the morbidly adherent placenta (MAP) has led to significant morbidity for pregnant patients. Prenatal ultrasound (US) is the first-line imaging modality to assess the placenta, but both sensitivity and specificity are lacking. More recently, prenatal MRI has been used to evaluate the placenta when US visibility is limited and when there is diagnostic uncertainty. Many studies indicate that the sensitivity and specificity of US and MRI are similar, with both lacking a sufficiently high diagnostic accuracy. By adding MRI to US in a group of patients at risk for MAP, this investigation aims to improve accuracy through a multifactorial scoring system using data and biomarkers from clinical history, US, and MRI.
