Summary
The natural progression of aortic stenosis (AS) in infants is heart failure and death. The treatment for neonatal AS is either open surgical intervention or percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty. In recent years, balloon valvuloplasty has become the most commonly used treatment for AS in children. However, whether percutaneous therapy is the optimal treatment strategy for neonates with AS remains unclear. Our aim is to compare outcomes of surgical intervention to percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty for treatment of AS in neonates at our institution from 2000 to 2016.
