Summary

We proposed to describe the extent of amyloidosis with cardiac involvement in a national US healthcare system, the department of Veterans Affairs (VA). We will determine the incidence, survival, and prevalence of amyloidosis and of patients with resulting cardiac involvement using VA administrative data. We will also pilot the use of informatics, in the form of Natural Language Processing (NLP), tools to find confirmation of amyloid fibrils in pathology and other VA text reports.
